DETERMINASI PEMAHAMAN HUKUM SYARIAH, LITERASI CRYPTOCURRENCY DAN PERILAKU INVESTASI TERHADAP KEPUTUSAN INVESTASI CRYPTOCURRENCY STUDI PADA MAHASISWA FEB UMJ

Abstract


Cryptocurrency has grown rapidly as a digital investment instrument and is increasingly attracting university students, despite its high volatility and ongoing debate regarding its compliance with Islamic law principles. Discrepancies between religious fatwas which consider cryptocurrency to contain elements of gharar (uncertainty), maysir (speculation), and dharar (harm) and government policies that legalize it as a tradable commodity create a dilemma for Muslim investors. This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic law understanding, crypto literacy, and investment behavior on the investment decisions of undergraduate students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (FEB UMJ). A quantitative approach was employed through a survey of 200 students from the 2023 and 2024 cohorts, with data analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that Islamic law understanding has a significant positive effect (t = 16.275, sig. = 0.000), whereas crypto literacy (t = −1.570, sig. = 0.012) and investment behavior (t = −1.257, sig. = 0.021) exert partially negative effects. Collectively, all three variables exert a significant simultaneous influence (F = 92.600, sig. = 0.000), accounting for 87.4% of the variance in cryptocurrency investment decisions. The study concludes that cryptocurrency investment decisions are shaped by the interplay of religious values, technical knowledge, and behavioral tendencies, underscoring the need to enhance both Islamic and crypto literacy among students.
